Mindful Nutrition Practice

Mindful Nutrition Practice is a London-based dietetic service, however due to COVID-19 we have moved to working with clients virtually, which means we can offer more appointments, be more flexible, and work with clients throughout the UK and internationally. The practice is run by Specialist Eating Disorders Dietitian Maureen Moerbeck, who has 20 years of clinical nutrition experience gained through working in the NHS and a variety of private settings. Specialist Dietitians Christine Phelan and Rhianon Timmins joined the practice in 2024 to help support and work with adult and adolescent clients with eating disorders and disordered eating, as well as providing other dietetic services that may benefit our clients.

The practice was formerly named The Diet Advisors, but this name did not truly describe the ethos of what we do. The ethos of Mindful Nutrition Practice is to help you work towards food recovery, symptom improvement, and a better relationship with food and your body using a mindful and evidence-based nutrition approach.

No fad diets, no gimmicks, no false promises, just an individualised and mindful approach to help you reach your goals.

How does Mindful Nutrition Practice work with clients?

Let’s be clear about what we Won’t do:

We Will:

  • Treat you as an individual.

  • Follow a non-diet and Health At Every Size approach.

  • Provide evidence-based nutrition information.

  • Help you work towards getting the nutrition that your body needs.

  • Work with you on achievable and realistic goals that are tailored to you.

  • Help challenge you and support you to help you move forward in your recovery.

  • We won’t just give you a standard meal plan and expect you to follow it.

  • We won’t just tell you what you have to eat.

  • We won’t discriminate (this includes with regards to body weight and size).

  • We won’t judge.

For the past four years she has worked in the mental health setting, specialising in supporting young people and adults in their recovery from eating disorders and disordered eating.

Christine has a deep passion for helping her clients heal their relationship with food and live a life free from restrictions. She encompasses a non-judgemental and tailored approach, helping them create change that feels manageable and supportive. She has a compassionate approach to educating her clients about their own individual dietary needs and helping them navigate through all the confusing diet talk we are all exposed to.

Rhianon timmins

Rhianon is a registered dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Dietetic Association (BDA). She completed her undergraduate degree at Queen Margaret University College in 2005 and has always pursued an interest in mental health, eating disorders, and understanding our relationship with food in all its shapes and sizes.

She has completed extra training in cognitive behaviour therapy, ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), motivational interviewing, and intuitive eating. After a period of time out of work raising a young family, she returned to work as the dietitian in an adult specialist eating disorder service. She worked closely with the therapist to offer dietetic support to clients with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and other specified feeding and eating disorders (OSFED). She supported clients at all stages of recovery to help them meet their recovery goals. Rhianon approaches her work from the perspective of treating people with dignity and respect for their stories that they share.

She recently started working part time as a diabetes dietitian, giving her a broader knowledge base to support people with a range of other chronic conditions. Having worked in both a mental health and physical health settings, she can help navigate a difficult relationship with food whilst also managing health conditions such as type 1 diabetes. She has been especially privileged to support pregnant women with gestational diabetes to help them understand their eating patterns and optimise their health during this time.

She understands that discussing food choices, eating patterns ,and behaviours is very personal and can be difficult. Therefore, she always endeavours to listen well, approach with understanding, and above all to treat clients with compassion and respect for the life journey they are on.
